In a charming alleyway by the Siem Reap River, not far from the Old Market, you’ll find Tiger Lily, a boutique specialising in Khmer artefacts and favourite finds from around the region. Antique betel boxes, ceremonial monk bowls, palm wood containers and yantra boxes festooned with sacred symbols and swirls of Khmer Sanskrit to ward off bad luck, just to name a few.
Each treasure in this eclectic collection was handpicked by Vanuatu born Cantonese transplant Judie Wong who arrived in the Kingdom in 2004 from Sydney, Australia and has made her home here ever since, with extended forays among the region’s other magical kingdoms of Laos and Thailand.
Judie was awed by the priceless array of Khmer artefacts available and she wished for the means to invest in the finest of them. Each treasure, old and new, opened her eyes to the richness of this ancient culture. A passion was born.
Realising an opportunity to share these material mementos of the ancient Khmers with discerning travellers who prefer to spend their days on cultural treasure hunts among the temples themselves, Tiger Lily was born in 2005.
